We're Proud of Our Outstanding Fairways and Greens

Deer Creek Golf Club is known for its outstanding maintenance program. Here is what you can expect regarding the care we give to our course:

Aerification of greens
During the course of Spring, the Golf Course Superintendent Dan Wehde and his maintenance team will perform one deep-time aerification.  Although the aerification process initially creates a sandy surface on top of the putting green, it will eventually smooth out and relieve the compacted soil condition of the green. In turn, this will help to reduce the thatch layer. Therefore, a few weeks after aerification, Deer Creek members will enjoy a superb putting surface.

Aerification of fairways and rough
Another important procedure that takes place on the course is aerification of our fairways and roughs. The aerifications will happen throughout the spring and fall. The Superintendent, Dan Wehde will use ryegrass seed. In order to create the “seed to soil contact” necessary for seed to germinate, the superintendent and his team must “cultivate the cores” before seeding. During this process the fairways will not look perfect, but in a few weeks the grass seedlings will sprout, the holes will fill in and a new lush fairway will emerge.

Please remember that no carts will be allowed on the fairways during the length of the aerification process.
